WHY TEACH DRAMA TO CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS?

Drama instruction, specifically, builds confidence and  teaches social and public speaking skills in a variety of ways. Teaching creativity to children and teenagers will enhance their chances of developing critical and problem solving skills. These skills will better enable them to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world.

Write, shoot, and edit your very own horror movie! Teams are made up of local amateur and indie filmmakers and are given 48 hours to complete their very own short horror movie. The final films are brought together for our annual Terror Challenge Showcase and award ceremony where they will be shown in front of a live audience. This is an 18+ event.

Now a Calgary tradition, this stage production of Charles Dickens' classic novel tells the tale of Scrooge, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, and how an eye-opening journey transforms the grumpy protagonist into realizing the life he needs to lead.

The Calgary Food Bank is teaming up with local restaurants to take a bite out of hunger. We challenged Chefs to create a Signature Dish using at least two items from our most-needed item list. Try one (or more) of these deliciously creative dishes. A portion of the proceeds from each dish will support the Calgary Food Bank. All funds raised by OctoberFeast will be used to purchase fresh food to complete our Emergency Food Hampers.

The 2017 parade route is REVERSED, come check it out!  30 marching bands, 40 floats, 750 horses, and 4,000 people - at least!  It's a magnificent march through Canadian tradition, Alberta history, and Calgary's culture. Our western roots are strong, and we're proudly multi-cultural too.  Many people travel from all over the globe to walk and ride in our Parade.

The Downtown West community gladly welcomes the world again this year!
