7 Avenue LRT Refurbishment Phase 2 Weekly Update Issue: December 12, 2011

Intersection of 11 Street and 7 AvenueDowntown West Calgary Association; Mewata Armoury; Science Centre Current Progress • The intersection of 7 Avenue and 11 Street is closed for utility work. This utility work is necessary to upgrade the LRT power supply to meet the future requirements of four car trains. Excavation to be done using large equipment including: hydro-vac trucks, a large backhoe and a backhoe with plate tamper (for compaction). Intermittent noise and vibrations may be expected due to excavation and compaction using backhoe and large plate tamper. • Pedestrian access across 7 Avenue at 11 Street via midblock crossing east of the intersection.

7 Avenue Between 10 Street and 11 Street S.W. Kerby Centre; Small Parking Lot; West End Apartments; West Pointe Plaza Condos, Provincial Parking Lot; Total Skin Care Centre; Chartwell Technology; Mainstreet Equity; Darsi Enterprises Current Progress • Forming of Curbs and Gutters, track slab and bus slab. • Placing of concrete using concrete pumps. • Grading of Avenue in advance of concrete slabs using various types of compaction equipment. Intermittent noise and vibrations may be expected due to compaction. • Kerby Centre Addition elevator shaft under construction.

7 Avenue Between 10 Street and 9 Street Athabasca University; Plaza 1000 , Altalink; SNC Lavalin Transmission and Distribution; Marvel College; Calgary Association of Self Help; International House Calgary; Impark Lot 19 Current Progress • Saw cutting of concrete and removal of concrete using backhoe with breaker. Intermittent noise may be expected due to excavation saw cutting. • Reinstating sidewalk at the Northwest End of the block and sidewalk to be reopened.

7 Avenue Between 9 Street and 8 Street Pentland Place Apartments; Dundee Realty; O’Neil Towers; Garden Towers Current Progress • Excavation on 7 Avenue between 8 Street and 9 Street being done in order to install a duct bank and the poles that support the overhead LRT power lines. • Breaking out of concrete using backhoe with breaker tooth. • Placing of concrete over ductbank. Intermittent noise and vibrations may be expected due to breaking out of concrete, and compaction.

Intersection of 8 Street and 7 Avenue • 8 Street at 7 Avenue will have one lane closed during peak hours, and two lanes closed during non-peak hours (9 AM – 3 PM) from 6 Avenue to 8 Avenue during the week of 12-18 to install an underground ductbank. Intermittent noise may be expected due to saw cutting, breaking out of asphalt and use of hydro vac truck. • Detour signage will be posted for both vehicles and pedestrians.
